Alex Hölzinger was born in Frankfurt in 1993 and now lives, works and grows his hair in Ireland.
Holzinger received his degree from the Limerick School of Art and Design in 2016, receiving
a first class honours in Sculpture and Combined Media. Holzinger also received the
Emerging Irish Artist Residency Award in 2016 from the Burren College of Art.
Employing mostly found objects in his work Holzinger hints at ideas of upcycling and reimagining our environs.Hölzinger's work is particularly interested in the formal
qualities of sculpture, the idea of the remnant and the object as a shamanistic plot device.
His objects are often playful and obscure yet keenly aware of weight the art cannon carries.
He employs a keen interest in the trajectory of sculpture as a lingual form for traversing time,
space and matter.See more of his work on /tumblr/ and /instagram/, see his videos on /vimeo/, and for more information download his /CV/ and read his /statement/.
